I think the starting price of $25,000 is rather steep.

I bought a 93 GMC 6.5 a few weeks ago. When I picked it up I noticed a straight 8 sitting on his shop floor. Asked him what it came from. Out of the Packard in the corner of the shop. He'd rebuilt the engine for a guy a few years ago. Recently the guy had someone changed his coolant and he left the radiator cap off. Driving up I-70 west of Denver it blew out all the coolant and blew an oil line. Guy kept driving it up the hill since he was 'close to home'. Took out all the rod bearings which are apparently poured babbit. $1500 per cylinder to have them redone according to the guy who sold me the truck. Expensive mistake.

When I first caught a glimpse of the engine I thought it was a Cummins.

And unusual Packard option was an Autoclock. I have only seen one of these, but then I am not a big Packard fan.

This was really nothing but a self winding watch, or in this case a self winding clock as you could shake it and feel the weight swinging back and forth. It was about 2.5 inches across and about three inches deep. It just mounted into the dash and needed no electrical connection since it was all mechanical.

I asked the owner how you read it at night and he said when the car was new most people did not drive at night. Take into account the primitive roads of the time and the substandard headlights and I can see the wisdom of only driving during the day.

Working around the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automotive Museum and watching many cars be bought and sold has taught me one thing. Rare does not always translate to higher value.
Resources in knowledge and parts is necessary to keep an old car going.
For example: in the 33 years of Auburn Automobile there are around 240 left.
A nice 1925 Auburn of any model can bring a nice price and there is a great club for support of this make. Yet within the Auburn make there is only one know Auburn that has the Weidely overhead valve 6. The tough part is owning this car is it is the ONLY one. There are no parts or support for this engine. The owner has had if for sale for a long time. He is asking about the same price as other models of that year so he is not asking some crazy price.
If this Packard 'RV' is a one of a kind finding resources outside of the base chassis to bring her back is a touch find.
If you have deeeeeep pockets it does not matter.
