We MUST eradicate these animals...

Ponder this for a while: what if this happened to your family?

"'Eyes gouged out, bodies hanging from hooks, and fingers removed with pliers': Horrific claims of torture emerge as soldiers reveal gory Kenyan mall massacre details•Kenyan soldiers claim to find scenes of torture by mall terrorists
•They say children found dead in food fridges with knives still in bodies
•Men were said to have been castrated and had fingers removed "
.

The only solution is to completely eradicate this cancer on humanity. As unpleasent as it will be, we must kill anyone associated with this sick, uncivilized, madness. The whole world, christian, muslim, jew, pagan and non believers must join together and snuff out this ****. Completely unacceptable behavior and it must be done away with, to the last "person" involved. Kill them all, and kill any who spring up from the ashes until they are no more. If we don't, we stand on the precipice of the wordl plunging into a new dark ages....

For me, it's the same as the Syrian issue....

Let the fokkers do what they will, and let's not get involved.
Is it reprehensible... yes Would it be nice to see these animals brought down... yes
But I'm not alone when I say that I'm tired of the US having to go in to these places and be the cop.
Cop is a ****ty job, and no one likes the cop.

Let them all kill each other if that's what they are going to do.
We should be concerned with our people first.

I am not going to agree or disagree, or state my opinion. I am only going to tell what a very smart and informed co-worker said in late 2001. I am paraphrasing but he said something to the effect:

"The world will not be a safe place to live, until every radical Muslim is dead."

You could add to that list...
Maybe start with people who hold that opinion.

A person with a brain might suggest that eliminating the cause for radicalized (insert religion here) might be a more human approach.

The US can't do it alone. I am speaking of all civilized peoples of the world joining forces to eradicate this evil

Its just not so simple. Kinda like eradicating things with anti biotics....kill most of them (I am not advocating that) and the ones remaining come back stronger.

that is a weak argument and one sure to lead to infection & death in both cases.

Fixed that for you.

right now, the religious fanatics we have to worry about are islamic....but you are right, that is why it has to be a worldwide outrage from decent people. It can't be a religious backlash to a religious problem, for then we run the risk of creating another monster.

Eradicating the causes behind radicalized anything would be the ultimate panacea... and far better than killing the people who become radicalized.
Unfortunately, it would seem that is tilting at windmills...

I really don't see it as a religious issue as much as a power issue.
People who want power will drape themselves with whatever banner makes them palatable to their supporters, and will claim allegiance to any dogma or belief structure they can in order to garner support.
I believe that we need to let places and peoples sort out their own affairs, and quit supplying them weapons.
Any system which is imposed upon a society, regardless of how beneficial, will still be artificial and therefore weak. Egypt comes immediately to mind.
Societies need to develop on their own as a mandate from the people, or they will be destined to failure.

Who is al-Shabaab ?

Not much mention of why al-Shabaab would launch a deadly attack, other than the usual 'that they are evil' or that 'they hate our way of life'.

Did anyone notice the military invasion by Kenya two years ago, backed by the U.S. and France ? The U.S. has also carried out repeated drone strikes in Somalia. Israeli forces have also been involved, as they were in the military operation at Westgate.

When the Islamic Courts Government came to power in 2006 it was generally viewed as bringing some limited stability to a country that had been torn by war for decades.

The U.S. backed an Ethiopian invasion in 2009 to fight against the Islamic courts.

The PREDICTED chaos led to the rise of ...al-Shabaab.

I'm trying to figure out how you "fix" something that is not what the poster said, rather what he heard someone else say. Were you there to hear what the person that I quoted actually said?

You are correct, the reason needs to be something besides a clash of religions. It should be an uprising motivated by actions of the decent people of the world. The RADICAL Islamacists are clearly NOT doing decent things when they perform such acts.

The pragmatic question to ask is..'Are they acting or re-acting...or both' ?

Once an answer is established, then plans can be developed to get to the root causes and perhaps curb the violence.
