Guy in Range Rover with family runs afoul of large gang of bikers

Range Rover runs down pack of bikers - YouTube

Hard to know how this began. I'm guessing it will be news, happened in NYC.

Looks like he came very close to hitting/running down a biker -- wonder if he was yapping or texting while "driving" his behemoth.

Can't say I feel all that sorry for him -- looks like he learned a long-overdue lesson in not driving like an idiot.

in the very beginning one of them slams on their brakes right in front of him. Id call this typical motorcycle group behavior, its happened to me certainly, but with a smaller group doing the same trying to slow down the whole highway.

I feel bad for the guy, thats like 50 different people chasing you, and apparently he cut one of his tires getting away in the first place.

article states they started attacking his car when the first guy cut him off and they bumped.

Makes you wonder why the video ended at that point.

Thanks for posting it cmac.

There was a lot of time that transpired between the time he hit the motorcycle until the window was smashed. Since he was with his family, you would think that someone would have been on a mobile phone trying to get help or directions to the nearest police station.

You don't begin to have a clue of what happened. The facts haven't really come out yet but you have your verdict. I think he did hit one or two guys, certainly their bikes. This after they used their bodies and bikes as obstacles to prevent him from fleeing so they could issue some sort of beating on him.

Biker gangs tend towards the scum of the earth at times.

There is an article linked that you can read if you want. (doubt it)

they beat the crap out of him and cut him up before the cops arrived and they took off

I've driven behind packs of bikers before -- they generally leave you alone unless you do something to actively annoy them. We'll see I guess.

I can only imagine cops will be examining that video closely. Not sure if they're going to be able to get lic. #s. Looking again, I can see some plates, I suspect they'll be able to use tools to get some info from the vid.

Police: 'thank you video taping biker.'

Word I read was that one of them hit a rear view mirror of his and he was on the cell phone to cops - they allegedly began taunting him for it. Who knows, I suspect it will come out. If I still had my tires, I'd have stayed on the freeway while on the cell with cops. Mo-fos want to fence me in, watch me body slam your ass into the guard rail. This guy was 33, perhaps not as well acquainted with driving as some of us.

At the outset of the video it appeared someone on a bike intentionally cut off the suv driver and then hit the brakes. After that it was a pretty clear case of intentional endangerment on the part of the bikers. The suv owner understandably feared for his/her life.

I have no idea what may have happened prior to the video but in the video the bikers were the obvious aggressors.

Plus he had his wife and young daughter with him. Word was they beat him pretty good, 2 black eyes and stitches needed for his face and chest.

All I can say is that I've ridden bicycles, owned a motorcycle, and currently own a car. I've much more often felt endangered on two wheels than four, and I've had many people on four wheels come close to injuring me through sheer cluelessness and stupidity.

I feel sorry for the guy, but I feel that he's not at all blameless.

Me too. I had a scooter as my only transport for 5 years and rode from the time I was 11 until I was about 30.

Spdrun, in your time on a bike did you ever cut someone off and then hit the brakes?

Yeah and I've experienced plenty of bikers zooming past me at 70 or 80, doing a high speed lanesplitting maneuver. In groups, they act like they own the road, they can fit into tighter spaces which makes accidents more likely. And then the auto driver gets blame for it.

Story has it that one biker was hurt - a broken leg. Also that they were detaining him and starting to damage his vehicle before any biker was hurt. They were using their bodies as barriers so he would stay put so they could attack him?

Morons get hurt on highway - details at 11.

I hope something like this never happens to me cause I swear I might lose it and start slamming bikes hard.
