Rush
I went to see Rush today. Good movie, but the racing sequences disappointed. I did not find them any better than LeMans or Grand Prix....in fact not as good. A lot of intense personal interaction that at the time I was totally unaware of. Lauda was an incredibly dedicated racer. Hunt apparently was supremely talented and excellent behind the wheel.

When the script was being written, not many driving scenes were originally penned since it was uncertain how big a budget the movie would have. Money, mostly from Europe, came in and the scenes were expanded. There were some other constraints by the vintage owners and insurance companies regarding how long the cars could be used.

Yeah I read all about it in several different magazines. I realize with the litegenous (sorry about the spelling) society we live in that much that was possible 30 years ago is not possible now....really, I would have liked it more if they just used old film from the day. There should have been quite a lot I'd think with the coverage they had in 76...?

There was some vintage video and tv used, but since this was a drama, and not a bio-pic like Senna, it was limited. Rush is a sports character drama, much like Ron Howard's Apollo 13 was a space character drama, so sometimes being an enthusiast gets in the way of enjoying a well made movie.

I would have titled it LimBlow. (Haven't heard folks quoting him so much lately...has his star waned?)

How is Geddy Lee holding up? Can he still hit those high notes on Tom Sawyer?
