IIRC, it SAVES WE THE PEOPLE one billion dollars a week, and.......since the overdrawn debt of the Government here is $17 Trillion dollars, it should be cleaned-up in a few decades.

What you are witnessing, layback40, is a bloated, American Government, with a Country running perfectly fine WITHOUT THEM, with happy people, and a very "few" that might want to seek better employment opportunities than with the Government that probably doesn't need their services any longer.

I totally disagree, Jake. Many of them might want to find more secure employment. 'We The People' are tired of the waste in America.

The average Government employee in America is pulling down OVER $100K A YEAR, ($125K to be more exact) after ALL the benefits AND PENSIONS are included. That's insanity for us to pay, IMHO! The average income of a Government employee is: $60,000.000 a year!

Here is an example I know of personally:
I know a worthless POS (I used to be friends with) that now smokes dope and snorts cocaine. I grew-up with him, but ended our friendship two years ago because of his low-life lifestyle that I personally find repulsive. He now draws $48K a year, WITH $50 out-of-pocket a month HEALTH INSURANCE FOR LIFE, AFTER 22 YEARS AS A BEAT COP IN OMAHA.

HE OWNS (2) 1/4 OF A MILLION DOLLAR HOMES - ONE IN OMAHA, AND THE OTHER IN SURPRISE. AZ. HE IS NOW A DOPER ON THE BLOAT OF TAXES ON OUR BACKS!

* Intimating a personal association with a recognized U.S. political party is not an act of libel, particularly if there is no reason to believe the intimation is false.

* If seeing the presentation of an offensive negative connotation of a political party in this forum troubles you, please accept my apologies. Just as an FYI, I've noticed a smattering of posts containing offensive negative connotations regarding political parties just here and there on the board. Just a smattering, however. You may wish to confront the authors of those posts, if you should happen to find those needles in the virtual haystack, and share your concerns with them as well.

* If impugning an elected official on the basis of their party affiliation troubles you, may I respectfully suggest that you place such esteemed forum personae such as Skid Row Joe and Air&Road on ignore? This could save you tremendous emotional wear and tear.

* Perhaps my post was in humor? Perhaps! Humor is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure that a few on here who don't share Larry's political beliefs found it mildly amusing; as I am sure that a few on here who are politically allied with Larry had an unreasonably strong negative reaction.

The following is for everyone:

Knocking an entire party is painting with a broad slander brush, great for enraging people, horrible for useful dialog..

IMO: There are few forum members who might change their political views from any discussion here.

Taking the most extreme stance, slander, insults, etc, ends any chance of other parties considering your points, from anything but an enraged emotional basis.

Imitating politicians spitting at each other is IMO a silly waste of time.

I know many politicians ROFLMAO watching citizens ripping each other, over C R A P they stirred up.

Did he do his job as a beat cop? Is he receiving the compensation discussed above as part of a retirement package which he earned as a condition of his employment? Are you seriously losing it over the fact that he receives health insurance?

Few things truly disturb me.
I posted this topic for rational discussion, because I feel the title is correct = the GOV has grown to LARGE and needs a serious reduction.
Every second they drag this out, more people realize we keep on living just fine without a full time government Nanny.

As many know, I have always been in favor of deleting all political and religion posts from this website, simply because they are controversial topic and have no relation to Mercedes Benz.

Several times the open discussion forum has been turned off, by the previous owner.
The current owner is allowing it to exist, until it disturbs him/causes issues.

I posted a thread about the number of households here; "ON GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE, CELL PHONES, FOOD STAMPS, etc.," 6 days ago.

It was met with hostility here on PP OD. Not at all a surprise. Ppl getting Government Assistance of ANY kind, do not want their income and benefits disturbed - even when they don't need it.

That, Roy, is the disturbing part. That ANY American would take GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE, even when they DO NOT NEED IT!

Harry Reid, with Obama's edict, shutdown the Government - no one else did.

This is the best thing that has happened in a long, long, time for America.

It's time that We The People get the Government they want.

Only a few decades!!
Best shut down some more government departments !
If your government was a private company it would have been foreclosed a long time ago.
