The Emperor's elite forces nab Shabab leader in Somalia.

And in Libya Al Qaeda leader Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Ruqaiwas was apprehended outside his house. He was on the FBI's most wanted list.

Los Angeles Times.

Well I'm sure all the anti-Obama folks will have a logical explanation for this...like they did for the OBL kill.

If it had not gone well it would be Obama's fault. If successful it was the military.

Actually, we don't know what happened to the guy in Somalia, since US forces were "forced to withdraw" (per the NYT) before confirming anything. Sounds like we got a sound arse-beating from the Somalis yet again.

Perhaps the credo for the 21st century should be about land wars in Somalia and how we should stick to drones from now on.

I applaud President Obama for telling us all about his military actions, I respect his impeccable timing of a raid in Somalia on the 20th anniversary of the battle of Bakara Market. I also respect his decision to use US forces in retaliation for a terrorist attack in Kenya. I also really appreciate his administrations policy to tell the world about everything our Special Forces do since they are so secret that if he did not tell us what they did and how they operate the world would never know.

Obama has his plate full with planning raids and such, I bet he even went on the raids himself.

Well that's one way to take him off of the payroll.

Of course!

Nevertheless if it had not gone well many on the right would have blamed him.

Yes, it is so much better to let terror groups not know that if they mess with the US they will get punched back. That way they can keep on attacking us, thinking they will never suffer any backlash.

Of course, it is no secret to the terror groups, as well as the rest of the world, that an attack has taken place. Since these attacks are typically noisy affairs with lots of bright lights and death it is only expected that someone might ask questions, like: What was that!

Scanning overseas news sources.....

It appears that the residents of the area are not sure what took place. They figure the raid was some sort of intelligence gathering thing since if all the US wanted to do was destroy the place they could have used a Drone.

The residents also say the raid was too small to have done any real damage and that it was over too quick.

I think is is weird that people could live so close to such events for so long that they think they can tell the difference in a full scale raid and a defensive probe, but I guess if that is your daily life you start to pick up on the ebb and flow of such things.
