above my stairwell in preparation for my lovely daughter #4's wedding on Saturday.

My only advice is Don't look down!

Is that use of a ladder OSHA approved?

If this were a contracting job OSHA would require fall protection.

OMFG not!

I have a harness but there was nothing that seemed strong enough to stop me if I fell to tie to. I could have run a big rope out one window in the crows nest up at the top and back in the other but the ladder felt totally solid and I never felt afraid in all the twenty or so trips I made up and down. I also varnished the wood skylight frames two coats and repaired some drywall.

Not bad for an old man!

I can do 28' all day. This 40' extension freaked me out enough to use a harness. I was unprotected for the climb , but once at working height I clipped off to the beams.

But if you paint them, won't that block the light?

I used to have no problem with heights, then one day high on a ladder 24' looking down I froze and that was it.

Well, I cannot compete with that! I'd have to set the ladder in the basement!

Yikes

That reminds me of a similar open space where I was trying to change lights once. I chickened out after testing out the ladder and rented a scissor lift

I'm ok with heights as long as I have confidence in my perch.

You're right. I mislabeled. I painted around my skylights.

Well done, Tom!

My fat @$$ on long ladders aren't a good combination.
