Lines blur between cops and bikers across the country
quote from the article: "Most simply ride with friends in their free time, but some have been involved in violent incidents while in “biker” mode. An Arizona officer goes to court Thursday for allegedly assaulting a bar patron who made comments about his bike gang's “colors.” According to Katz, it doesn’t help that many of the law enforcement motorcycle clubs model themselves on outlaw gangs like the Hells Angels and the Warlocks. They wear the same kind of patches, ride the same bikes, and, sometimes, break the same laws." “You can’t act like something and not become it,” said Katz, who spent three decades investigating bike gangs. “You can’t be a biker by night and a cop by day.”" Lines blur between cops and bikers across the country - Investigations http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20131008/washington-heights/off-duty-cop-expected-be-charged-beating-of-suv-driver-sources-say |
A bit of truth mixed in with a lot of sensationalism -- just because people choose to ride in a group or club does not automatically make them violent or equivalent to a 1%'er club.
LOL at "Iron Pigs." |
I know when I was riding my 30 year old honda, I was automatically in gang mode against vespa's.

The authorities here in Australia have declared war on outlaw m/c groups. In some states if there are 3 HD's riding together they are stopped & searched.
No Cookies | The Courier-Mail ATTORNEY-General Jarrod Bleijie appeals for understanding as he admits law abiding motorbike riders will be affected by new laws banning outlaw bikies from riding in groups. Police will target groups of three or more outlaw motorcyclists riding together under new anti-bikie laws going to State Cabinet today. Cabinet will also examine laws allowing police to stop, search and photograph anyone in bikie club colours. Attorney General Jarrod Bleijie said while the legislation will target only criminal motorcycle gang members, he did flag consequences for other bike riders. "There will be some disruption to law abiding motorbike riders but we want to avoid the disruption as best we can but the police have a job to do," said Mr Bleijie. http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/broadbeach-bikie-brawl-was-sparked-by-love-triangle/story-fnihsrf2-1226736414891?utm_source=Courier%20Mail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=editorial&net_sub_uid=85538847 |

HuskyMan is right on this. All over the country there are motor clubs with police officers as their sole members. They were started to organize get togethers for cops and family and charity events and now some have morphed into full scale motor gangs.
There was a case recently in Arizona where a "police motor gang club" beat some guy half to death in a bar. |
Around here HD clubs are mostly lawyers and accountants. When they ride wild and free (in their $5K leather-ish get-ups) they drink a spritzer and collude on frivolous lawsuits.
