Chevy Cruze 2.0 L turbo diesel!

Just saw a commercial for the new Chevy Cruze Turbo diesel. It looks like it is availible here. I did'nt know until I saw the commercial. Looks like it is a 2.0 litre displacement motor. I wonder who is making the motor, curious about this...

Cruze’s diesel engine also is the cleanest ever produced by GM.

So do you really think they are making it or using someone elses design?

Yip, just dust off the Olds 350 diesel, chop off a bank of cylinders, and you're in business.

All the diesel clamor in the US over the years and now Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Mazda . . . those things better be flyin' out of the dealerships.

GM isn't in the game with any diesel race cars, are they?

The diesel engine in the Cruze is a product of VM Motori, and Italian concern, 50% owned by GM, 50% owned by Fiat.

Actually, it is a German design used in the Opel Astra. It has nothing to do with VM. 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Photos and Info – News – Car and Driver

You are correct, sir.

From goauto.com
Quote:
The Frankfurt based company says the new diesel was an in-house collaboration by engineers in Germany, the United States and Italy, meaning it had nothing to do with its previous diesel partner VM Motori.

The Italian input came from GM’s diesel powertrain centre in Turin, where the American company once had an engineering joint venture with Fiat.
