"84 380SEC, Trunk Spoiler Or Not

Picked this up last week. Debating about gluing on the spoiler or not.

Nein, danke. I would hold out for the ducktail if you wanted a rear spoiler.

This is the kind of question that only you can answer. It's a beautiful car, it's yours and you should set it up to suit your own personal taste.

Enjoy!

The wife wants no part of it, but I think it's not as tacky as something like this

I've got an informal poll on BW and here.
I told her I'd go with the majority.
2 for and 2 against on BW so far.

Personally I think all spoilers look dopey. Suit yourself, that car is handsome as is.

Beautiful car. The spoiler would interfere the fine lines of such an automobile...IMHO

Are you racing it? If no, then keep the spoiler off. It spoils the looks. If yes, then how much difference in lift/downforce does it make in relation to the weight and drag it adds?

The small lip spoilers that AMG made part of their Aero kit can generate about 100# of downforce at speeds above 80 mph.

Dump the spoiler. "Spoiler" is a good name for it. Wrecks the lines of an otherwise great design.

As stated earlier, if there's a reason you need it, fine.

If it was installed by the factory, fine.

A DIY project, found at a yard sale? Nope.

Sorta' like putting an "AMG" sticker on your Yugo. Don't believe it's possible even if the damn thing was being pushed over the lip of cliff like a thousand lemmings.

As your mother used to say "If all the neighbor kids jumped in the river, why would you do it?"

"'Cause it's there." doesn't cut it when you're talking about a nice automobile.

If you do it, why not go all the way and mount a 104" CB antenna on the driver's side rear quarter panel too? Might start another trend...

I'd fix the antenna & keep it stock.
