If GM does do a Diesel 'Sclade, a Diesel 'Burb isn't too far off! With how my Duramax has been treating me, I would definitely consider a DuraBurb as my next vehicle. :)

A post-'99 diesel 'burban has been rumored for a long time. I've been waiting for a 4.5L Duramax 'burban for a long time.

Since they mentioned hybrid platforms, I wish someone would make a hybrid minivan. It would be a near-perfect application since so many minivan miles are hauling kids and stuff around town in short trips and stop-and-go. Lots of room to put batteries and still have cargo space. New ones will get 26+ mpg on the highway but actual (rather than EPA) city mileage is closer to 16. There's some room for some drastic improvement around town.

I could see that fleets would like that for the better gas mileage.

A diesel Suburban makes more sense to me than a diesel in an Escalade. I see 'Burbs get used for towing and hauling quite a bit. Escalades mostly seem to be purchased for "bling".

why they would jump right to the gussied up prissy truck for a heavy duty diesel motor and skip over the much more common and likely to be used chevy workhorse suburban is beyond me.

but then again, they are releasing an automatic only diesel sedan, so whoever is in charge of target markets for chevy diesel products may be on chrysler and fords payroll

How bout a diesel Tahoe?

GM has been talking about putting a diesel in smaller trucks than 3/4 ton for a decade and it has not happened yet.

I'd love to buy my next WT with a nice V6 diesel, something like the engine Dodge is putting in the Ram would be perfect.

The problem is they only put diesels in $40k-$60k trucks, anything cheaper they won't.

mine don't even need to be a v6.a 3 cyl turbo diesel would suit me just fine.i do not need 5000 H.P. to drive my 95% of the time empty 1/2 ton pickup.and when i do have a load it's no where near the 1/2 ton.i still have my 92 chevy 1/2 ton 2wd 6.5 5spd ext pickup with close to 600,000 miles and it will still get me 25 mpg's.until they can get one close to 40 mpg i ain't looking.need to get me an old vw caddy.they run around 50 mpg,and have enough power for me.the big 3 are all f'ing idiots.

Just do a twin-turbo direct-injected gas V6, similar to Ford's Ecoboost. The cost of the drivetrain would probably be less expensive than a turbodiesel, and the slight fuel economy disadvantage of the gas engine would be negated in parts of the country where diesel is more expensive than gasoline.

AFAIK, the diesel option will be available in the base-line truck.

Is the 6.5 on it's original engine?
