"Behemoths" is the right word. I don't think I have ever seen a more pristine 500SL than this one, flawless.

Thanks for the nice pic! Behemouths for sure!

Very nice picture.
November 7th I will be in the Polo Lounge of the Beverly Hills Hotel, listening to soft live jazz music and sipping a nicely blended Mai Tai. I'll have brought the "Beverly Hills Volkswagen" (as the 560SEC was called, 22 years ago) to this venue, as I host a visiting Mercedes Benz pal to a tour of the "City of Fallen Angels" for a couple of days. Amazingly, the P.O. of my SEC used to OWN the Beverly Hills Hotel, and got rid of the car, he said to me, because his young wife thought the Lorinser wheels made it "too flashy for Beverly Hills and wanted a new BMW" when he handed over the records from April 1992 beginning with the first one from Beverly Hills Mercedes Benz. He liked the car and nothing was ever wrong with it, (he told me, in his office on Wilshire Blvd, near Rodeo Drive) but did not feel too bad, because he still got to keep his Porsche 911. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r..._3220306_n.jpg |
What's that giant Hyundai looking thing on the right there. Is that a BMW or Volkswagen product?

It looks like a Miata (in size only before anyone gets wound up! ;) ) parked between them.

I passed by one of the nicest 500SL's I've ever seen yesterday morning. Perfect red body with a like new tan conv. top. I was on cruze ctl. in the CTS, so I slowly passed him by. He looked over at me, I gave a nod and a thumbs up & moved on. I wished I had been driving my CE for that encounter :)
It also had an AMG badge on the rs trunk. Never seen one so marked before. Was an AMG kit offered for the 500SL? |

I remember once going to a Yankees game at the old Yankee Stadium in a newish BMW 740iL which had one of those "Yankees" sports memorabilia front license plates. We pulled up to the stadium looking for a place to park, and one of the security people waved us into a private parking area under the stadium, which apparently was dedicated to Yankees front-office types. We didn't complain. I don't think that would have happened if the Yankee plate was on the front bumper of a Kia...

these guys just don't know how to park cars. space enough there for 6. :D
