I have to wonder if he was denied council on request at any point. Also forceful confinement without charges may have been involved. If checking his identity revealed no past illegal drug involvement especially. I think they totally pursued the wrong course anyways.

. Well at least one penalty for not coming to a full stop at a stop sign is now known for his area if you drive through.

Actually insanity almost prevails here with the medical establishment trying to collect from him for services performed. The parties requesting it are automatically eligiable for the bills.

He is just one lucky individual that drugs where not planted at some point.

And if this incident followed the "policies and protocols" you have in place, then your entire department needs to be revamped.

I'd have more respect for him if he admitted that the entire thing was a travesty and that they were having the state's attorneys go through their policies and protocols to ensure that such abuse of authority would not happen ever again.
AND if he arrested the officers in question for rape and civil rights violations, and handed the case to the relevant District Attorney. Anything less ... unworthy of respect.

He should just forward the medical bills to the Police department along with a note telling them since they ordered the probe, they can pay for it.

For sure, especially if any of the cops were themselves drug dealers. That way they could shift any suspicion off of themselves onto this poor guy. A "win win" for them.

I hope the victim wins big.

It's also long past time to rethink the War on Some Drugs.

Hopefully that guy will become ten times the pain in the butt to the cops and doctors that they were to him.
Why is it judges don't get consequences for signing off on sketchy warrants?

Who is going to hold them responsible? They are the top rung on the food chain, nobody calls them into question.

GUESS YOU ARE NOT REALLY OPPOSED SINCE YOU MAKE EXCEPTIONS.

Plain and simple, and if the facts are proven in court, the cops involved in this deserve the maximum sentence that the law provides, which appears to be capital punishment. I'm normally opposed, but I make an exception for rape or murder by public officials sworn to uphold the law.

I think public officials given power and sworn to protect people should be held to a higher standard if they screw up.

I'd say the problem extends far beyond the cops. What were those doctors and nurses thinking?
