You have your own personal billboard on the front of your house. You put up little notes, photos, etc. that you want to share with the world.

If someone wants to see what you're talking about, they can go over and see.

It's just for sharing short tidbits. The whole #hashtag thing is basically for searching. If you add #w123 on your photos, and I do a search for #w123 it will show me your relevant post along with anyone else who has #w123 on it.

It's a fast and incredibly efficient outlet for celebrities, athletes, politicians and average Joe's/Jane's to say things in written form that they'll regret immediately after posting.

I remember an anatomical email I email I received a few years back, which had an arrow pointing to a certain specific spot on a gorgeous female.;):D

As an active "tweeter", I will attest that TWTR is very efficient online method for announcing bits of information in 140 characters (or less).

Active stock traders, new organizations, celebrities (for better or worse), all the way down to pre-teens, college professors, and just about everyone else that may have a twitter.

Some make the argument that the majority of accounts are "lurkers" (similar to forum members that do not actively participate or post) and are disconnected from what it can offer.

By the time I figured out Twitter, my daughter was "Instagram"-ing"!

Twitter=usually just words, maybe a photo

Instagram=photos, maybe some words

I've skipped the whole Twitter thing.......might dip my toe in the stock though.
