Cooled ThermoTherapy

as long as I'm here, any of you past-50 crowd know anything about this BPH treatment called Cooled ThermoTherapy?
Cooled ThermoTherapy
My urologist is talking about it in a couple weeks at a seminar. Guess I'll attend. Sounds both promising, and scarey

so.... they run you full of cool liquid from the Keister or do they plug a probe in and let it chill out for awhile? I know a few sufferers of this so I will pass along the info-

from what I've gathered, they shove a mini microwave oven probe up your Johnson, and cook the bad tissue causing the enlargement. The "cooling" part is a water cooling system that's supposed to keep ya "comfortable" up there. Read one testimonial of a fella that said it wasn't exactly as advertised in that area. Do a google search on it. There's even a few YouTube vids about it. I'm sick of my symptoms, and tired of FloMax, but not so sure this sounds REAL exciting. But if/when it works, it sounds awesome. So........

Thanks for the link. Many years ago my dad had what he called a “rotor rooter” done to achieve much the same goals. I'm sloowly nearing a need for this kind of thing and have heard nasty things about some of the drugs used to achieve this goal. I’ll ask my partner, the medical professional, if any of the docs she works with have a preference for one procedure or another and get back.

Thanks Link. (Link? Really?) My dad had the roto-rooter done back in the very early 90's, and was miserable for months afterwards. Not sure if they even do that anymore.
Flomax helps me pee awesome, but totally messes with the "other" function of my boys. I'm "only" 57, and can't wait to see what happens the next 10 years at the rate I'm heading. I'd really like a good fix, next to just chopping everything off/out all together

My partner got back to me. Asking her about this created a rash of questions. Naturally she thought I was talking about myself.

Anywho, according to one of her urologists associates (and no, that’s not a place in urope), there are a few varieties of this kind of procedure that are done. They are considered to be far less painful and far quicker recovery than other procedures that produce about the same results. Often the issue boils down to which procedures are offered by a given doc/hospital.

And if you have a problem with my screen name, might I suggest you play catch with a boomerang on a nearby freeway.

No prob with yer name! LOL! It's always been the fun part of these forums, the stage names we all come up with. I just wasn't very creative with mine

Me too if the ladder is tall enough.

Or I am asleep and dreaming.

I’m interested and am glad you took my comment in the cheeky way it was intended.

well, not too much more I got from the seminar that's not on that web site. But my urologist did say he tried this back 10-12 years ago, and didn't see it as all that great, so he quit using it. But the latest iteration seems to work quite well. And the bad side effects, temporary and permanent, are considerably less than previous. He did stress that the sooner you get this treatment, the better it's effectiveness. If your BPH is quite advanced, he recommended the surgical treatment, called TURP(Google it). He showed slides on the Doctor Mengele procedure
So, basically, you need to sit down with your urologist of choice, and weigh your options. I'm not sure where I'm at in the BPH scale, as to whether or not this is a viable option for me. I think I should be, although I've had BPH symptoms since my late 30's(great genetics). I'm going to wait til after the holidays and make an appointment. If he feels I'm a good candidate, I'm in.
