CBS Correspondent Apologizes for Report on Benghazi Attack Source

It remains to be seen what kind of repercussions the incident has within “60 Minutes” or whether CBS will conduct an independent investigation, the way it did following a discredited 2004 segment in which Dan Rather reported on George W. Bush’s national guard service.

A book was based on the interview subjects' memory of the events and this book was published as non-fiction. Now that it has been clearly demonstrated to be a work of fiction the publisher has demanded all copies of the book be returned to the publisher.

As the publisher has the same owners as CBS it appears that the 60 Minutes story was nothing other than a hype for the book.

I am currently working with a fellow who was Special Forces in Iraq. He saw the 60 Minutes story and claimed he could not stop laughing at what he considered a Monty Python rendition of events. Many people claim to have walked though a wall of fire during their military service, those who have know when someone is piling it on.

My friend pointed out that those that know don't tell and those that tell don't know. There is a reason many Vets don't regale the rest of us with endless retellings of their war stories and that reason is they don't wish to relive the time they spent in Hell.

The motivation driving the interview subject is easy to determine, and it only proves the truth behind the proverb.

The love of money is the root of all evil.

His undoing is also based in the Scriptures in which we are admonished to prove all things. Too much of the event in Libya has been accepted as fact without proof, and one lie builds upon another until even the biggest lie seems plausible.

I never had any faith in the media anyways.

Their support or non-support of anyone or anything is no excuse for their incompetency.

Leave of Absence

The internal review conducted by Al Ortiz, executive director of standards and practices at CBS News, concluded that the team did not sufficiently vet Davies’ account of his own actions and whereabouts that night.

Can't they just move it to the fiction section?

So this supports the administrations characterization of the events in the consul?

not actually; it discredits the contractor who wrote the book. And, it continues to expose that the major media is full of ****.
