Wanderlust...

Its a disease, I only did one big trip this year which was great but it was still only one.

I'm basing this off the retirement thread...if I didn't have to work I'd be out of town right now. Weather sucks right here so why stay?, and I'm sure their is a boat in warmer waters needing a crew.

IE I'd love to crew on a schooner or square rigger right now, than maybe do a stint on an arctic expedition because I have been told that flying to a berg, breaking off ice, than putting it in a drink is amazing... After that who knows? All I know is the weather is poor right now and its time to get out of dodge. I'm going to shoot off some emails in the morning to see if anyone needs a crew.

Screw work, screw collecting stuff. I want to travel the world from port to port meeting very interesting people on cool boats and seeing what cool crap I can get involved in.

Its a pirate life for me. When I exit this world I want to go out shot having gotten drunk and had a girl on every continent and just about every country around this world.

“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well
preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways,
chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming
“WOO HOO what a ride!”

Don't you have a business partner?

I pretty much did what you are looking to do Hattie, from 25 to 35. I became a diving instructor and moved around the globe, then I became a USCG Merchant Marine master- a boat captain. It was like I retired first then went back to "work"- which is now captaining a mid sized sportfish...
Go for it- you are only young once.

Interesting... Hattie has not logged on since making this post. Perhaps he did just drop everything and is now swashbuckling the high seas.

Home is the sailor, home from the sea
And the hunter, Home from the hill.

I often have the same daydream except for, not working for some one....but rather just sail around looking for islands in warm places and living off the land and ocean like a pirate would have done as you descrbe. Either that or living in the mountains off the land, like the Swiss family robinson. Log cabin.
