Cadillac advertisements

I hate Cadillac. I will always loathe them.

Recently I've been inundated by Cadillac ads. I don't even watch that much TV. I do listen to radio and podcasts more often. But lately these ads are everywhere.

"introducing the NEW ATS, BTS, CTS, DTS......"

Is anyone else really annoyed by them?

Now that you mention it, I've been inundated by them too -- specifically here on PP. Those new letter names are weird, especially as they don't seem to mean anything.

Hello, I'm your Lincoln concierge. Let me show you how you can spend $90,000 on an Explorer.

Caddy is making a come back. The ATS is aimed at the younger generation so they are going to push it in the ad media. I am happy to see a US manufacture producing a decent product and advertising it. Go Caddy.

My sister in law has a 2009 +/- CTS and I was pretty impressed. Fit and finish is quite good (except for the felt roof liner) and it's an attractive car in my opinion. My wife really likes the CTS wagon.

As far as the letters go, they make about as much sense as the numbers on most of the MB's do. A C250 with 1.8l engine. A C550 with a 4.6l engine. The C350 is correct.

Sounds like Caddy wanted to get as far away from the old reputation of Eldorado and Sedan De Ville as they possibly could and the letters seem to be as far as they could go.

Definite approach to sell to a younger market segment. Many of them buying upscale cars for quite awhile now.

Older people tend to shy away if a brand has not been consistently good. The younger people buy on impulse and other factors. So the past performance and quality is not considered as much if at all by them.

Gm of course wants to move more vehicles with higher margins as well. Not a particularily new strategy for them.

If I a really older guy like me where to part with the required money. It would go into another label like lexus, infinity or whatever.

Besides the perceived quality issue is the depreciation curve. Probably going to be much steeper on the Cadillac. I still hope they will build a good car for the people that buy them.

I would personally not want to buy one. I also like older Mercedes cars but that alone does not make the purchase of a new one a sound decision. Their previous modern track record as well leaves a little to be desired in my opinion.

Put a CTS V wagon next to a E63 wagon and I'd have a hard time making a choice.

They're shooting themselves in the foot aiming at us young'inz. Excluding people with independently wealthy family members, I don't know any 20-something that are on their own and make enough to buy these cars.

Yeah, the model lines blurr. CTX,ATX, XYZ.
I have a 12 CTS. I like it a lot, except for the GD drivers seat. It is the most uncomfortable thing I've eve sat in. My '62 MGA 1600MKII had a more comfortable seat.
That aside, I like the look of the car. It has an "attitude" appearance standing still. Mine's stock entry level. MSRP was 35k +/- iirc. I've ridden in a 2013 ATS. It's narrower & lower. Smaller & more cramped interior & a little more difficult to get out of. Not for me. Reminded me of my gf's Acura ILX, built on a (Civic chassis)

They sure know how to butter you up though....this came this morning:

Anniversaries mark time, but can also celebrate commitment. Beyond our gratitude for the last two years you've driven your CTS, we want to make sure you're getting the most out of your Cadillac experience with exceptional owner products and benefits. From the connective power of OnStar®* to the committed team of professionals and Cadillac Certified Service experts at your Cadillac dealership, we think the perks of driving a Cadillac should be as special as the vehicle itself. As we move forward and arrive at more anniversaries, we want to thank you again for sharing the journey with us.

You got to shoot at the young'inz to get the Boomer/AARP in the door. Mercedes is doing the same thing.

I block ads with my hosts file and don't see them here. I saw one on TV in the last couple years that showed a new Cadillac with a manual transmission. That would be cool and some of their rolling sculpture is eye catching. I think that the fin cars from the "jet age" are making a conceptual rebirth based on stealth fighters. Still, buy GM, get GM.

Interesting that that trick didn't work with compacts but seems to have worked with the Tahoe/Escalade and Expedition/Navigator.
