I used to have a bunch of things you could do with 35mm film canisters . . . oh well.

If you live in a high humidity area, and your tools rust, drill holes in an old pill bottle, drop in a piece of camphor, close the lid and drop it in the tool box. The camphor vapor leaves a microscopic layer preventing tools from rusting.

I wasn't terribly comforted by the reviews about them being little pills rather than bars.... In a short bit of research, it would seem as if having a decent supply of this stuff on hand might be a good thing. Keep the silver that we never use from tarnishing, keep the little critters out of the sheds, bugs away from the house, and even has medical uses... Now that it's on the radar, I want a block the size of a salt-lick...:D |
My last purchase was for four boxes of this particular camphor...mainly because I didn't know the size of the tablets. I can now safely state that I'm set for at least the next 5-10 years, and that's after giving two boxes to my brothers.
