Ford Police Interceptor

I was talking to a cop this morning about the brand-new Ford Interceptor that has been assigned to him. He loves it. His only complaint is the poor visibility to the rear. It has a small rear window, which is made smaller by the bars of police lights along the top and bottom of the window. Otherwise, he says it is a blast to drive. I wonder whether they let civilians buy them.

75 mph rear crash protection. Ballistic door panels. rubber flooring. Heavy duty everthing. I want one. I bet the public can't buy them.

I see civilians driving old police cruisers that have been sold at public auction.

I suspect you want a new one. No reason not to check with a local ford dealer. Perhaps you could purchase one with the crash protection ElChivito mentioned. I would call the fleet sales mgr. at a local Ford dealer.

The wife would kill me if I got a new one. Down the road, though, maybe I can find one at an auction, or something.

Looks like the SHO taurus has the same 3.5 twin turbo ecoboost 365hp plant as the police interceptor variant.

Probably actually faster considering it doesn't have all the armor stuff the police version has

interesting review, guy brings up a lot of important points. I don't understand the door strap either. My rear door on my 123 has a problem with the check strap that keeps it from opening fully, about the same as the driver door on the police taurus, and its super irritating any time i try to put something in there.

I can't imaging how annoying that will be for a cop using it every day. I bet you police departments will be refitting with civilian hinges or cutting the straps immediately

That is an lol, for sure. I'll bet it's not like any Ford Taurus we've seen, though. I crawled around under my friend's cruiser this morning. It looks like the real deal to me.

I'm having the same problem with twin turbo and ford taurus in the same sentence too. Though I did love my 93 SHO, that was only 220hp or so

I guess? It's awd too, very nice car if a bit boring. Taurus is no longer a laughing stock, nor ford in general for that matter.

Caprice PPV is being released to the non-cop public this year as the SS. Hopefully it will get more engine choices than the 6.0L V-8 as time goes on.
