Dodge Promaster Van
Saw one on the highway today for the first time. Was surprised to see it was front wheel drive. Rear axle looked lightweight to me. Lots of room though. And a diesel.

The transmission is also an automated manual, not a typical torque-converter slushbox in the diesel. Win!
The passenger version with a pop-top bolted on would make a sweet little camper, along the lines of the old VW EuroVan. Great because it's barely longer than a Ford Taurus, so it can be driven basically like a normal car. |
FYI, it's a rebadged Fiat Ducato / Citroën Jumper / Peugeot Boxer. I believe the diesel is an Iveco 3.0L, and it's also available with the Pentastar 6 that's in everything these days.

Seemed like a big van to me, not similar to a Taurus. It did have a European looking front clip.

Traces of a Sprinter show in the styling.
|
Yes. Initially I thought it was a Sprinter but then I saw the missing rear axle. Most of the Euro vans look similar nowadays.

4K dollar premium for the diesel. Ouch.

I'm looking for pics of the interior of the window-van version (with seats and floor coverings...) kinda tough to find ?
MSRP of approx. $35k puts it around "higher end minivan" territory - Once they are on the used market, I might have to look for a used-diesel passenger model (but Im guessing that they'll hold value pretty well) -John |
