Bought the Mrs a new car

After finding out that our 2012 Altima was in need of its 3rd transmission in the two years we have owned it I decided it was time to get a nice reliable car for my wife to drive (I'm never buying a car with a CVT transmission again) so I went out and got her a 2014 Honda CR-V. I remember someone on here was looking at one of these for their wife as well awhile back. I am sold on Honda until Mercedes gets their act together and makes a new W123.

I'm not nuts about the new styling of the CRV, and continue scratching my head over Honda's decision to dump the Element without a comparable replacement. My nearest dealer, over in Prescott calls about once every two weeks wanting our Element.

Never the less, you'll love your CR-V and it won't let you down. Good pick!

Might have been me. We had an 01 CRV, it was a good car overall. We looked at new CRVs, no 6 cylinder (ditto RAV4), so we went with the flat-6 Subie Outback. Wife has been spoiled by German v8s.

Can't go wrong with a Honda however, aesthetically pleasing as well.

No still have the twins. I was toying with the idea of selling the 280E but I think I'm gonna keep it.

Hondas are pretty good, decent cars. Congrats on the new car! And good riddance on the Altima. I've heard bad stories about CVT transmissions in the past.

Talking Jewelry store advertising

The text of an ad for a jewelry store in a tiny town in Nor Cal about 50 miles away from here, as seen in their weekly paper read:

"As we grow older, our eyesight begins to diminish,

This requires BIGGER DIAMONDS."

A definition of advertising as told by one author in a novel I am reading:

"A profession dedicated to convincing you that $hit is toothpaste".

"Then We Take Berlin"

What the heck happened to the CRV. It's looks like a station wagon with a lift.

I like the no nonsense looking element. I'd have encouraged the mrs to buy one if it had gotten better fuel economy.

Looks as if the focus group couldn't make up their minds?

I think you are actually referring to designers of the Pontiac Aztek, no?

Two problems for me. They quit making them a few years ago and they were a bit weird with the back doors. Would have made getting the kids into and out of car seats a challenge.
