PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum - ANOTHER new to me e320

Well since picking up the mint 02' e320 I have been looking for a cheap one for me. I mean cheap. So I poked around on craigslist while at the beach this past week and found this baby.

2001 Mercedes Benz E320

I did not have enough daylight to get a pic myself hopefully he will leave this up a lil while so you can see it.

Anyway it runs and drives as good as our new 02'...Headliner is worse however and steering wheel has nasty faded spots all around. But carpets dash, wood and most of all seats are spotless. This guy bought it with 20k miles back in 04 and has serviced it exclusively at RBM Mercedes in Atlanta. I got all the paperwork and he spent $1100 for all 4 rotors and pads less than 3000 miles ago. It has a clean car fax and I was able to pick it up for $3800 and it has 158k miles.

My only concern and the main reason I got him down on price is its making a nasty power steering whine and the steering is hard to turn at low speeds. Thing that is weird is he has maintained this thing with an open check book for years and there is mention in the service remarks about the whine. Whats even more strange is RBM made no recommendations to what the sound is or why and he made no attempt to repair it. The owner simply said its been like that for years and it never bothered me....:confused::eek: WHAT? It sure as hell bothers me. I am off to do some searching on here but if anyone has a idea shoot it my way! Sounds like pump is going bad....but the whine is come from passenger/center side of engine. reservoir is full fyi
