Reasons to be optimistic

It seems that whenever I start to worry that the GOP is going to take back the Senate and White House and really screw things up, someone comes along to cheer me up. Yesterday, it was the Republican National Committee who sent us an amazing tweet:
Quote:

Today we remember Rosa Parks’ bold stand and her role in ending racism.

Meanwhile, in other news:

Thank you, GOP, for being so monumentally clueless.

The incident with the 13 year old occurred in Houston. Houston has been continuously led by a Democrat mayor since 1982.

I suggest toning down your rhetoric given the lack of research before posting. Or do we need to bring up Fleming vs. Nestor again?

My research was fine on this one. My comment referred to the RNC's suggestion that racism has ended. Whether that's what their tweet was even intended to say is not clear. What is clear, IMHO, is that they are not good at reaching out to minorities.

Is this a troll thread?

I'm not sure what constitutes a troll thread. My point was to suggest that the RNC is idiotic and that I hope the GOP continues its fade into oblivion. It's all just my opinion. I didn't intend the thread to have any particular educational value, but it would be nice if it got some GOPers fired up.

Is that a troll thread? If so, am I not supposed to do that?

The rule about trolling is more like a suggestion. A guideline. Or something.

I with you, all hail the passing of the Grand Old Party.

To some yes, to others no. The ultimate decision is with the moderating team.

What was the point of including the two links about dumb azz cops. I looked for a reference to the GOP in those stories & didn't see one. Did I miss something? Nor could I find anything which linked the police to the Republican party. They probably aren't card carrying Democrats I'll admit ;), but I don't see a link between the stories and your observation about the "monumentally clueless" GOP. That's all.

I don't know what constitutes trolling either. Like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. ;) And we all be beholdin' to the mods. :D

I was too cryptic on that one. The point I attempted to make, if it can really be considered a point, is that the RNC's tweet makes it sound as if racism has ended. The news stories were intended to illustrate why minorities might see it otherwise. I didn't intend to suggest that the GOP had anything to with either news story. For an organization whose mission includes bringing minorities into the GOP tent, they seem particularly clueless about how to do it. They don't seem to have a good feel for how their statements and positions are perceived.

Trolling is like obscenity, difficult to define, but the mods know it when they see it. Jacobellis v. Ohio

Anybody ever tell you in all your adoration for the GOP that they were instrumental in getting Rosa a seat in the front?

What party owns the race card?

Anyone who has even a superficial understanding of history knows that. So what?
