ill dig some more photos up. theres hardly any info out there on it. iirc there were something like 12 of them ever made. the sides fold down as beds and originally had a sink, toilet, stove, and an ice box. when grandpa go ahold of it, the po had already gutted it of the camping gear, replaced the back door off of a camper trailer and a few other odd mods.

ill have to shoot some pics of the inside next time im over at my dads. its in rough shape. we started working on it years ago and got too busy to get back to it. the motor in it only had 30k or so on it when he parked it. grandpa decided to replace the old 152 with a used 196 when my dad was a kid. he had paid the ih dealer for an engine that was supposed to be pulled out of a truck later in the week.

when he went to pick his used engine up, they had sold it out from under him. somehow or another he ended up leaving there with a brand new complete 196 in a crate for what he paid them for the used engine.

Due to employment in mechanic shops, including the service department at a dealer in upmarket to exotic used cars, I've had the good fortune to drive quite a number of cars I didn't own, ranging from horrid to sublime. That experience has informed this list to a great extent.

Bucket list (not dream list) and excluding things I've already owned:

To own:

Porsche 911, preferably 78-83 911SC, but really any 911 is good.

Volkswagen Beetle, the real one, rear engined and air cooled.

British roadster. I know I've stated that I've owned a convertible before and don't ever want another. This is the exception. I'm not real particular: MGB, Spitfire, TR6, Midget, or even cheat and just do a Miata.

Just to take for a drive (excluding ones I've already done that with):

Ferrari, preferably one of the good ones. V-12 would be nice, but I won't turn my nose up at even a 308.

Ford Model T. I highly doubt I'd want to own one, as they aren't practical for daily driving, but it's the car that put America on wheels. I'd be happy to see if I can get one around the block with the oddball controls.

I also really want to get a ride in a Huey before I die. I grew up watching movies about Vietnam, and they were still in widespread service with the U.S. military when I joined. They still have a few around, but at this point if I get a ride in one it will probably be at an air show.

That's fantastic! I've never seen one IRL. Given the production numbers and Scouts' propensity to perforate that shouldn't come as a surprise!

Too bad it was gutted, it'd be nice to have the old fixtures as templates. Hope you guys can get around to fixing it up!

A donation to a museum will get you a ride. I suspect that most of the hueys left need a $10k repair every other time they fly. If you are serious about this one I wouldn't wait. Time is not on your side.

A model T would be great to take to fairs and such. Putting around a fairground with riders could be fun.

Late 90's Ostermeier aluminum W198 300SL Gullwing replica with a Mercedes diesel OM617/603 and W124/202 suspension swap, or with a Subaru boxer H6 with Legacy suspension and all-time 4WD. The car to keep forever and be buried in.

Any air cooled VW Bug, Jeep Wrangler, F150, Mustang GT Convertible. The only problem is to get any of these aside from the truck I would need to get rid of one of my MB's.

I had a Ghia convertible, 60-something, the last year of tube bumpers whatever that was. Maple-y yellow color over camel. Great looking car and nice in Tempe with the top down, but once behind the wheel it was clear you were just driving a gussied up beetle.

Considering a new or perhaps a near-new C7 Corvette. Chevrolet hasn't made one that interested me in the 38 years since I bought my last one - maybe it's time for another one.
