To the Linepeople who are out and working....

Thank You!!!! We have been out of power since last night and it came back on a few hours ago. The power folks who are out there working in sub freezing temps in the dark on high voltage lines... you have my undying gratitude. I know they are getting paid quite well but still. It's really nice to have lights and heat in the house when it is 25 degrees out side in DFW.

Question Power Company Mutual Assistance

I don't know if they are required by law to help other companies out or if there is a mutual agreement between utilities to respond, but it is uplifting to see utility trucks from far away places replacing downed lines in your neighborhood.

Alabama Power was in my neighborhood (southern New Jersey) after Hurricane Sandy.

As they say in the military: Bravo Zulu

We lost power at 8:30PM Thursday night and got it back on about an hour ago. When they finally came up the road, I went out and asked them if I could bring them water and sandwiches, and told them that they were greatly appreciated.

They didn't take me up on the offer, but seemed to appreciate being thanked.

That is a rough job. Glad they do what they do (and that I have a diesel generator).

And yet, people complain when power companies ask to trim trees to prevent outages from storms.

I am reminded of this every hurricane season and on dark and stormy nights, year-round.

Good of you to remind us all.
