Z's woman wants charges dropped.

At the risk of starting an anti-Zimmeran rant again here, this story is interesting...

If they lift the restriction and he kills her they open themselves to a legal suit by her family. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Probably, they'll drop the charges and keep the protection order. Enforcement of the restraining order is ultimately up to her -- if she want to go see him and she doesn't call the cops, no one will care.

And AFAIK, it will expire after a while if not renewed by her anyway.

She probably wants to drop the charges because a hearing will most likely prove she has lied and filed a false police report, I'd bet.

Differing 911 calls

On a 911 call recording released by police after the November 18 incident, a woman can be heard telling authorities: "He's inside my house breaking all my (things) because I asked him to leave."

The woman then says to someone at the house, "I'm doing this again? You just broke my glass table. You just broke my sunglasses and you put your gun in my freaking face and told me to get the (expletive) out."

A man is heard telling her to calm down, but then she tells the dispatcher that the man just pushed her out of the house and locked the door.

Police also released a 911 call from Zimmerman describing the dispute.

In his 911 call, Zimmerman says that his girlfriend was, "for lack of a better term, going crazy on me" and throwing his things out. He says the woman is outside with police.

Asked why he is calling, Zimmerman says, "I just want everyone to know the truth."

He says he never pulled a firearm and that it is in a bag, locked. And he says she was the one who broke the table.

"He did not point the gun at her or threaten her with it," Weintraub told HLN on Monday.

The accused in this case has expressed a desire to move to Texas. If he makes such a move he will find the laws in Texas unfriendly to a case such as this.

In Texas if a 911 call is made concerning a domestic disturbance then someone is being charged. This law was passed many years ago in reaction to a rise in domestic disturbance calls where one party or the other only wished to scare the other party. When the police showed up and were turned away a lot of tax dollars went up in smoke due to what had now become a false alarm.

The bottom line in Texas is that if a call is made it is then out of the hands of the one who made the call, and if they decide to not press charges then that is their decision but it will have no bearing on if the DA wishes to move forward on the case.

I'm unfamiliar with the laws, but assumed this was the case almost everywhere now.

There are many reasons why someone would recant their statement later, not the least of which could be intimidation by the accused. I believe it is for this reason that the charges and subsequent prosecution is not at the discretion of the accuser.

I have no desire to see The Zim go down in flames, but he really does need to find a way to lower his profile. A guy in his position needs to be a little more proactive in situations like his most recent scrape.... Any kind of altercation, and he should just leave... immediately. That would, however, require having sense enough to do such a thing, which he does not seem to possess. For better or for worse, he does not have anonymity enough to be taken at face value by the po-po.

I doubt it. I would bet that the local law enforcement folks are glad to have a reason to disarm mr. Z.

It's the behavior of abused women. Very common. And males make this behavior out for attention seeking; also very common.

Not to say this is always the case but I did know of a stunning woman who seemed to have the worse luck when it came to balance. She was always falling down and hitting her face on something.

It finally came out that her husband would beat her with an intensity. The Police offered to step in but she refused saying that it was a private thing between the two of them.

This couple had big money, but that did not seem to be a factor. They both found this to be acceptable behavior and she even looked at it as being somewhat normal.

To each his own. She never called the Police on him and became quite upset when anyone else did.
