I still like Megan Kelly's BS better. She said you can't change the facts about Santa being white. Never mind the fact that Santa is a fictional character based off of St. Nicolas who I am pretty sure did not live at the North Pole, with reign deters who fly.

How can anyone be that stupid and on TV? I know it's FOX but still, this seems pretty low even for them.

That was a trip all right. The real St. Nicholas/Nikolaos was a Greek of the 4th century whose place of origin is part of present day Turkey. I suspect he was not all that white.

She also said that Jesus was white. She is her own war of disinformation on Christmas.

Megyn Kelly said Santa and Jesus are white. Really? - CSMonitor.com

*trivia note* Yeah, you did sorta blow that one David - it's reindeer.

Hoping that I won't be confused with the Megyn Kelly ilk, but Greek would be white. He was born in what is modern day Turkey, but he was Greek.

Icons of St Nicolas would support the assertion of Caucasian appearance as well. But in the end I don't think it really matters as the current media storm is over several racial comments which really have nothing do with the "color" of either historical character.

I did some Architectural work for a large black church in Kokomo about 20 years ago. All their illustrative material hanging on the walls depicted Jesus as a dark complected African.... I was a little startled at first but then thought, why not?

Who knows what he looked like?

I was under the impression that Greeks were more of a brownish hue, sort of like southern Italians. Of course they're not black or even a dark brown like Indians (Asia) but I didn't think they were the pale, rosy cheeked sort that Santa is often portrayed as. Not that it matters that much.

But I wonder if anyone has told Kelly that Santa is an anagram of Satan?

Good god I know I will regret even responding to you but apparently i like
The punishment.

People tend to create things in their own image. As T said above, a black church portrayed Jesus as a black man.

Of course they do. Doesn't make them accurate ethnographers. But I guess that's not an issue for religious worship except for folks like the Aryan Nation types.

IIRC, the Poles have a black virgin statue somewhere that they venerate. Poles aren't black, really. I don't think. Oh hell, maybe so.
