Mandela Pseudo-Signer in Group that Burned Men

But never went to trial because he was deemed not mentally fit to stand trial.

Not very comforting when you consider the guy was an arm's length away from our President and other world leaders. I didn't get a chance to watch any of the service, but I hope the Secret Service was close by.

If he's hearing voices and seeing angels, in addition to his violent past and schizophrenia, I'm amazed he was allowed to get anywhere near them.

Thankfully nothing happened. It's kinda like when you get that tingly feeling after narrowly missing something bad and realize just how close you were.

An investigation is under way by South African officials to determine who hired Jantjie as the onstage interpreter at the Mandela memorial service and if and how he received security clearance. The officials have not said how long their investigation will take place, and reaching them for updates was difficult Monday, a public holiday in South Africa.

I listened to a BBC interview with him on NPR and it was one of the funniest interviews I've ever heard. Especially when the correspondent went on about the minister supposedly responsible for the debacle acting surprised that the company who provided him had apparently been getting away with this for years and now seemed to have "vanished into thin air".

I read that questions were raised about his fraudulence from a previous event. And he was hired for this one?? Oh man, that's third world right there.

Stephen Colbert had some fun with the guy, link here:

That's the real issue. Is this the best we can expect for the billions spent on the NSA and Secret Service? I wonder what the excuses would have been if something went really wrong, similar to the coup that occurred just over 50 years ago.
