I don't drink beer that much, but there are a few I DO enjoy, especially outdoors when it it is hot in the summer.

1. I like San Miguel, from the P.I.. but NOT the watered down "export" version. The brew for home consumption has a higher alcohol content, and is much more satisfying. I used to get all of it I wanted, as a ex neighbor in SF was involved with container ships at the Port of Oakland and he got cases of it from the Captains of some of the ships coming in from Manila, ie, the National Dignity, the National Pride, the National Honor, ect.

2. Pilsner Urquell from the Czech Republic, is a very good beer. It's well regarded throughout Europe and I like it too. Better ethnic euro restaurants serve it, and it can be found for sale in some liquor stores in larger urban areas throughout California, and sometimes it's even in Grass Valley for sale!

3. If you get the chance, try Peruvian beer. I especially like Cusquena (from Cuzco) and Arequipena (from Arequipa), two large Peruvian cities.

Cusquena beer is often times served in good Peruvian restaurants in larger cities and very occasionally found in Latino or Peruvian stores, especially in LA and SF, I used to go to one on Cary Ave in San Mateo near SFO when I lived in the City, but there many be a similar place in your area.

Arequipena beer is great, but the town (2nd biggest in all Peru - in the So High desert near Chile) is wonderful, but is VERY hard to find, because most all of it is consumed right there in Arequipa by the natives. If you ever see it for sale , try it.

Cheers !!!!!

You could drink several new craft beers a day and not keep with the beers entering the market.
Still, there are a few old standbys. One from NoCal that comes to mind is Anchor Porter from SF. Bready-malty-yeasty goodness. Get it in a 22 oz. bomber if you can. Much better flavor than the 12oz.
Feeling experimental try anything from Dogfish Head. Oddball, out there recipes that for me miss as often as they hit. I love their Palo Santo Marron, in small and infrequent quantities. So strong and intense that the wife and I often split one, poured into two snifters.

Lagunitas has a nice selection. Of course, there's always Chimay.

I like to mix it up, but never the watered down Labatt's Blue that's imported to the states. Nothing with the word "Lite" on it.
When travelling in the U S i'll stick with "Bud" in a bottle.

That must be my mistake. At 34 and above it tastes like watered-down mule pee.

JMHO, but for something you can find pretty much anywhere in the states, Samuel Adams is quite decent, and it doesn't require a connoisseur to appreciate it. Still, it's not on sale in an 18-pack for $10.99 at the supermarket.
