Red face I feel dirty...

I'm going to mail in my firearms registration forms tomorrow, waited as long as I could but the 1st is approaching.

I feel like I just betrayed what our Founding Fathers fought so hard for. But sadly our government in Hartford is pretty much fascist. The only reason they are in power is because of the liberal elite in Fairfield county, and all the poor people in the cities.

The plus is that in a few years I'll build a house in NH, transfer citizenship to a free state, and see ya CT. I can also continue my collecting since you can't buy anything worthwhile in CT anymore other than a deer rifle.

I hate that you, a law-abiding free citizen must inform the government of your possessions.

This is why I have not submitted an application for a sound suppressor. I don't want to be on their freaking radar.

Next I bet they pull a DC and require re-registration or confiscation. One more school shooting and I'll lose what I just registered.

It burns the living **** out of me Bot, when I'm forced to do stuff that up until only now I only read about in history books.

I'm not quite sure how they do it, but CT loves making breaking state laws a felony. So the punishment for a firearms violation is pretty draconian. That's how they get you, people that have stuff to lose don't dare not comply.

I guess that's what the good Germans felt like when they came to round up their neighbors.

I could make a lot more money if I moved to California. Gun laws are just one of the reasons I won't make that move.

As the NRA states: "guns don't kill people, people kill people"

Maybe the legislation is to regulate people.

It does not seem to reach it's intended objectives. We up in Canada had the same law. A lot of people did not comply with registration as a gun owner.

It is and was used to identify that there were guns in the household for the police forces was the end result at best. This before the law was squashed. The police still use the the older information on file though.

There are far too many guns in the American society to make compliance with any laws surrounding them really effective anyways. Those that register them tend not to register them all for starters I observed. Yes once anything occurs like a domestic violence situation the police seize weapons In that household. Being registered helps them do it usually.

Take some comfort in the fact that those most likely to commit violent gun crimes are registering before the deadline as well.

Don't hang your hopes on NH too much, C. One of my buddies moved to NH 10 years ago and says it's just becoming a Boston suburb. The Live Free or Die state is steadily becoming eroded by the tide from the south.

You'll need to go to the northern woods of NH, VT, ME to get away. Which are my favorite parts of the states anyway.

Americans have run out of room to get away, from other Americans.

I'm not sure why the default comparison is with Canada. The Canadian population (34.88 million) is similar to that of California (38.04 million) but the population density is 9.27/sq. mi. and 244.2/sq. mi. respectively. The population density for the U.S. (317.314 million) as a whole is 83.6/sq. mi.

Similar population densities would be North Dakota at 9.92/sq. mi. and South Dakota at 10.86/sq. mi. Both are higher per capita gun owner states (10th and 4th respectively) and number of guns/household. Not exactly hotbeds of shootouts and gun crime.

Wouldn't it stand to reason that if you spread people out enough and they're not right on top of each other, they're less likely to shoot someone else?

If we could ship off 282,314,000 U.S. residents to some currently unpopulated location in another country and spread the remaining population out it might be a more valid comparison.

Yes, it took me too long to come up with my response.

Americans used to be able to "go west" to be free and independent. I suppose a bit of that is still true, but for how long.

Of course the population in Canada at best is only a tenth of America. We have far less large cities. Still the vast majority of Canadians live in those cities. Four million in the greater Toronto area alone.

The thrust of the Canadian government in general is to still increase the population. Reflects the desire for a larger tax base I suspect. Plus to compensate for the ever larger growth of the aging population.

Primarily gun violence is confined to the young in the larger cities currently. Drug related is the probable causative. Pistols are very illegal here in general but those young guys seem to have no trouble getting them.

At this time of year the southern United States looks very attractive.

My sympathies. You could of course relocate to Arizona. Won't have much an issue with that kind of crap here for the forseeable future I think. I'm almost reaching a point where I have too many. Is 32 too much?

Ah hell, who and I kidding. I'm going to swing by Cabelas again today, just to look see of course...
