Suppliers are dopes...
I swear the construction industry is full of idiots.
I ordered sheetrock and compound from a supplier and the rock arrived late in the day but it did show up and was delivered well. Next comes the compound, tape, etc which was supposed to show up first thing this morning. In my world first thing is between 7:30-8 am. In their world its PM... Called up and they are like, yeah it is what it is pretty much. As my guys are standing around because like an idiot they called me at 2 and I'm like sure the material is their. I'm thinking their is no way its not their, but it wasn't. My mistake. No problem in the past month I charged enough on my account with them to buy a small car, guess they are not going to see that to oh...maybe after Memorial day if I'm feeling nice. I told the guy on the phone I'm going to pay my bill with the same speed that they deliver!

If they can say "Oh well", they will. You probably need to order a day earlier, I'm afraid. BTW, the word is "there" and not "their". Unless it affects them directly, they don't care. If it holds up my paycheck, I care. If not, go pound sand.

At least your rock was in a usable state...
I've had to send back pallets of drywall because they f**ked up the banded edges by beating them into something, or broke off every corner by strapping them too tightly close to the ends. Even had one company offer to discount the rock... told him I would lose money on the hanging and finishing even if he gave me the drywall... But, it is much easier to deal with when you are working on account and the material hasn't yet been paid for.

I have sent loads back, some were so badly broke it looks like they rammed a forklift into them. My lumber salesmen every once in awhile decides to jack my prices to see if I notice. Last bill I shorted them $800 which he heard about when he got back from vacation. I guess they were seeing if I compare lumber bills from house to house.
