Did he mean $18,950? Looking at the other prices on that site, that would make more sense, unless the car comes with a few kilos of cocaine in the gas tank.

And one oil change in 40 years? I'd actually be more scared of a car or bike that age with redonkulously low mileage than one with say 80 or 100k on the clock.

The ad says he changed the brakes and tires. Must have been some 3.8k miles.

Tires dry-rot, brake pads might delaminate after a while.

Fine by me, I bought my 1969 S before the crazy bubble.

A 'normal' T would be worth $40k or so, but with super low miles and primo condition, I'd start shooting for $100k. For his $189k asking, you could easily get a fully restored S which is a way better car.

Dude's crazy. Not sure if bubble will ever burst on these early 911s. Used to think it would...

$189,000, I should have kept my '71.
It was the 911E with Sportamatic [the stick shift auto] for my wife. Don't laugh
it looked awesome with the big whale tail spoiler I'd installed.
I traded it for a VW Rabbit for my daughter when she started university 23 years ago.
No I'm not a dwarf, that's my son in the photo, he's 28 now.

You drive it or keep it stored?

Two more observations here:

1. For THAT kind of $$$ the color ought to be something nicer than (turd) brown

2. The other conundrum with an ultra low mileage collecter car is that for every mile driven, the value diminishes.

So you have to either put it in a museum and drive it for 20-30 minutes every once in a long while, to keep moving parts fresh,

Or drive the tar out of it, enjoying it. (My 1967 Cougar @38k doesn't compare to this 911 in terms of value or miles, but I DID decide to keep it pretty much original, and only mechanically perfect, and only added Power Steering and front power disc brakes, and new RWL tires and a spare tire, to make it an easy driver.)

I have put a few thousand miles on it so far. It's sure been fun.
Actually driving it around on cruises now and then keeps fluids refreshed, AND people everywhere I go wave, honk and come up wanting to talk about it, or ask to buy it. Especially at restaurants and gas stations.

Those early GenI 911s, like Brian's blue one above, or yours, are timeless, iconic, beauties.

I'd love to own one, in a nice color like those you guys have, but would need to learn how to drive it properly. Those air cooled ones are special, but with that rear engine, and the later water cooled ones, you need to learn and respect oversteer, because if you don't, and you go into a turn too hot, you can end up in the weeds..

Or worse, LOTS worse, if you don't know what you are doing.

Also, I'd hate to go out like Paul Walker did.

'Nuff said.

I may be crazy, but I really like that color.

Not to mention the deterioration from sitting that you alluded to. I'd be much more inclined to buy a car that was driven regularly than one that just sat in storage, even if the prices were the same.

I'm with you on that. A car is meant to be driven. Jay Leno is on the same page. He drives all of his, though he has so many that it probably takes him months to cycle through all of them.

Edit: I should have said driven regularly and maintained. Driven into the ground is another, but that is where $500 W123's come from.
