Let's play the guessing game on a game!

I've been playing and enjoying a PC game for some time now. Lets see if anyone can guess what it is!

This is a game that:

-on the surface shouldn't be fun, but it is.
-takes many hours of patience
-is quite possibly the nerdiest game ever conceived of (Short of WOW )
-has actually taught me a number of things
-gives me even more respect for a certain category of workers then I already had
-has online multiplayer available but I haven't tried it
-has had previous versions around for a number of years

Let the guesses begin!

Your starting to move in the right direction with the automotive as that is a part of it.
