1985 mercedes 190e

hello, first time user on this site. I have an 1985 Mercedes 190e that I bought last year(about 9 months ago), and the ignition switch had gone out on me so I just recently got it running again. Now the issue fuel. It seems to be using a lot of gas, a lot more than it was before. It's taking an unbelievable amount every day. I was wondering if anyone can give any tips to what could be the cause. I am guessing it needs a good tune up but I am not a mechanic. any advice or info would be appreciated.

You need to repost this in the tech section. There is a much greater chance of someone with the solution seeing it there than in this one.

But as to your problem: It sounds like you need someone who has the equipment to adjust your fuel ratio. Any shop that works on fuel injection should have the equipment and the expertise to solve your problem.

Without the right tools this job is impossible to get right.

My 84 euro 280e got to using so much it got 10 mpg and would barely run. it was the warm up compensator (I believe that was the name).

If the timing chain has not been replaced within the last 100k, replace it now. When they break they take out the engine and they like to break by 150k.
