I'd say it was slightly more than a "poor decision".

In a word, yes.

The decisions you make and the actions you take define you as a person, and in so doing, serve to establish the "value" of your life.

Choose wisely.

Sorry, but I think he got what he deserved. If he had pulled the gun on another unarmed person instead of an off duty cop, who's to say he wouldn't have used it.

I'm sure at muster the next morning, plenty of other cops shook his hand, clapped him on the back and gave him an "attaboy"

ie, "Good job! Took another one of 'em off the welfare rolls PERMANENT" etc etc.

Because that man didn't place much value in his own life.

It kinda does. You threaten someone's life and your own is forfeit. If you cannot accept that, don't point a gun, knife or whatever.

I would. Not sure about welfare rolls but certainly one less threat and one less person that would be in jail. All for the cost of a bullet and some paperwork. I don't know about you but I consider that a bargain.

Oh my, where ever did he get a gun, in that "gun free" city? (sarcasm)

Apparently he didn't get the memo...

I decided to pick up a six pack of Newcastle late last night after already having quite a few at the bar. That was a poor decision. Deciding to participate in an armed robbery goes well beyond poor.

As they say on CVN, nothing of value was lost.

Pointing a gun at someone whom you just robbed for no reason is even worse.

'Poor decision' ?? Yea, Id sure say so. A weapon is pulled and aimed only to be used.

Martureo ... assuming you were carrying and this occurred to you what action would you have taken.

Mine choice would be simple. 3 bad guys = at least 3 rounds = probably 3 body bags.
