If its anything like NeverWet, it wears off rather quickly. But I can see this stuff leaves the same chalky looking residue.

Actually, that is the kind of stuff that's the future. Auto manufacturers expect to release "no wash" cars in the next few years by using things like this rather than the usual clear top coat. Science is accelerating. I welcome things like this.
