Need a good pair of socks?

I have worn Bridgedale socks, made in Ireland, for years. They're hard to find and pricey.
A new and interesting venture that has saved an American mill is making extremely well made, price competitive and 100% U.S. sourced materials and construction, even the packaging is 100% U.S. That they are sourcing their Merino wool from western ranches doesn't make me sad either.

Their website:

yup. I find that with packer boots that I wear on the ranch or hiking boots when out hiking a pair of lightweight Merino socks wicks moisture a lot better than anything else. Synthetics might wick a tiny bit better but they absorb foot-stink that won't launder out. Plus I just don't like cheap socks that wear out in a season. I walk around in the house in socks all winter on floors that are all rough terra cotta tile, slate and sandstone. Wears out cotton socks in a heartbeat.

Being older than the hills I tend to have some medical problems. One of them was, and I add WAS, terrible leg cramps in the middle of the night.

If you have these you know what I am talking about. Doctors don't seem to know why these come and go like they do, and there are said to be things you can take for the condition, but an old woman told me that it was because my feet got cold at night.

To wit: My feet do not have the feeling in them they once did. This is a natural part of aging and I am without a doubt aged. If your feet are not covered they will get cold and you will not feel it. Then your blood will not circulate as it should and you will get a leg cramp.

The solution: Wear wool socks while sleeping. Well, I had tried everything else and nothing worked. But this did.

So spread the word, and let everyone know that only 100% wool will work. If that's too bulky then go with cashmere. Not cheap, but I have not had any leg cramps since I started doing this.

Carry a pair or two of inexpensive new socks in your car.

I dislike giving money to homeless/beggars in the city (not wishing to subsidize substance abuse or anything) but a nice clean new pair of socks is usually received graciously. And can be put to immediate use.

Now that is an excellent suggestion.

I'm into it. They're a bit more than Smartwool but not by much.

I couldn't find a price. I do like Smartwool socks. I might prefer these.

They seemed to be in the $20+/pair range.

While some of their color/designs are interesting, I'm going to get a few pairs. I wear out socks quickly, too.

If they hold up they're worth it. And even though it's cliché, I do try to buy American when I can.

Denver and Cedarville look like ones I'd wear, but the price is a bit steep... of course, I'm sure they're worth it.

Cool. I appreciate good socks and can't stand cheap ones. I'm on me feet all day at work, so cheap socks and boots just don't cut it. I'll check for these next time I'm at Cabela's.

Two pairs of smartwool socks lasts me a whole year, which really is just half a year. The rest of the year I'm in flip flops.

I like these socks.

I'm gonna order a pair of the Boulder socks from an online store:
