Well then I guess you could say the E250 diesel is THE CAR for the antisocial class. Too bad those aren't generally the type of people that can afford a $52,000 car. I predict it won't be a big seller. Besides when you're spending that kind of coin why wants to give up 100hp from the normal E class just so they can claim they drove a little further on a tank?

I dunno about that. An E class that gets well over 40 MPH on the hiway and is awd is very appealing. Plus, as noted the car appears to have lots of pull.

Pushing them cheap over the V8's to get those CAFE ratings up. Remember most new E class buyers are like my attorney. They don't give a crap whats under the hood and never even open it. They just want a nice midsized sedan they can lease for $500-$600 a month.
