What companies do the thing where you are reimbursed to drive someone else's ca
I remember reading on here before about companies that reimburse the cost of fuel for you to drive someone else's car a good distance, say in the case of a long-distance move. Does anyone know what companies do this and/or what this service is called?

Answer: they are called "Auto Driveaway" services! One of the best known companies appears to be autodriveaway.com.

There is also a service to deliver RVs. I think a guy named Chilton wrote a book about it a few years ago. You get paid to drive, but you can't actually use the RV.

iirc one company is called auto drive away or auto driveaway and there are probably others. They pay people to drive a vehicle from a to b and it is at times a less expensive alternative than shipping.

I did it once. Not auto driveaway. The deal was I was to be reimbursed for the gas and expenses at the end point that was a car dealer. I was allowed five days so I also had use of the car in the area before dropping it off.
Well when I went to drop the car off the sales people said the guy that was to handle the payment was not present. Suspecting a scam I said in that case I will bring the car back when he is. They magically located him. He tried the we will mail you a cheque approach. I said that was not the agreement and the car is going back to the east coast if you do not produce the money. By this point I was back in the car and sitting in the drivers seat. Some of these car dealers are real scum and this was a large dealer. . The dealers owner was getting the car moved cheap enough but obviously not as cheap as he felt it could be. |

Watch this movie BEFORE you ever sign up to deliver a car for an auto driveaway company.
A young man transporting a car to another state is stalked along the road by a cunning and relentless serial killer who eventually frames the driver for a string of murders. Chased by police and shadowed by the killer, the driver's only help comes from a truck stop waitress http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6WmEoMY2Lo The Hitcher (1986) - IMDb

What is even worse is I found out later he was from the east coast town I currently live in. Was told he was a crook of the worse type.
He had a very large at the time profitable Chrysler dealership 40 miles north of Toronto. Probably a politician by now if still alive. I think things have improved in recient years but for a long time a fair percentage of canadian politicians where retired car dealers. Or they still owned the dealerships. People that ask why politicians or at least some of them lie repeatedly. They are well versed in it I suspect. Or what would you expect? Reminds me of the guys mother really getting upset when she found her son was in politics. She had lived with the belief he had a respectable job in comparison playing piano in a cathouse. |

No, but he has Jimmy Kimmel as his limo driver.
Jimmy Kimmel dresses up as limo driver to meet controversial Rob Ford at the airport ahead of show appearance | Mail Online Actually about 15 years ago I had to drive a customers new BMW 7 Series from Jacksonville Florida back to Toronto because he had a stroke and flew home. The family paid for air fare down there and gave me $200 a day for 3 days for motel and meals to drive the car back home. It was the dead of winter so I said what the hell and checked into cheap motel on the beach for 2 days with a couple of case's of beer and worked on my tan. On the 3rd day I drove back to Toronto, 22 hours straight. My boss was a bit puzzled why all the company gas credit car charges were all in one 24 hour period

Not sure but he seems to have a lot of the qualifications. The guy is also not going to improve either I believe. If not totally out of control too often as well he gets close.
No chance of being a reelect mayor. Just one big joke to the people of the city now. |
