Some have said that the pump isn't necessarily if you use AC injectors or even hybrid. If you have a good tune, you can take advantage of the extra oil pressure of the pump

Which GTP38R do you have? I had the Vanity Turbo before I switched to the GTP38R with the 1.15 housing. No wastegate or EBPV.

The guy who recommended the pump says that the rough idle is related to worn or sticky (I'm not sure what word he used) injectors. It's not that objectionable, so I've been living with it.

Another quick and easy thing to check is the return fuel line poppet valve on the drivers side of the fuel filter between the heads. I've seen numerous instances where power loss and rough running issues were linked to this little pot metal cap. the cap has a webbing that holds the base of the spring loaded valve on the fuel filter, and the pot metal webbing can wear away and the spring can fall through, altering fuel pressure

I check injectors on a flow bench every 100k. At which point, it won't be a bad thing to pull glow plugs and make sure all is well. They can rebuild them so you can see if the injectors are worn and what the lifespan is. My injections were OK but dirty at 100k.

Personal experience: '96 Econoline 350 w/7.3 PS-bone stock, worked hard regularly hauling 1-2tons of fertilizer/seed, routine maintenance, 278K miles and going. Just had some rust repaired and re-decaled so I'm sure I've sealed its fate.

Anecdotal experience: Family friend and former sales rep. each had recurring issues with their earlier 6.0's. Former rep. eventually went the $5K bullet-proofing route, family friend still fighting with his (sad part is that he had a beautiful green '96 7.3 PS XLT crew cab with matching cap -which I was in love with- that he bought new and the 6.0 replaced it).

I'm fairly certain that the rough idle issue is related to the hpop because it showed up after the first highway run with the new hpop and never did it before. Do you think that poppet valve could have anything to do with that?
