Stupid schools.....again...

Do we REALLY need to do this damaging harassment to innocent children?

" A central Ohio principal says she suspended a 10-year-old boy from school for three days for pretending his finger was a gun and pointing it at another student's head."

News from The Associated Press

Wonder if they'll jack him full of drugs for the next decade or so?

Probably should have pretended his finger was a penis. Might have gotten an award.

A kid point a gun (real or imagined) at a kids head is a bit disturbing. Context makes all the difference.

People say stuff like this is stupid till a kid pulls a reL gun and kills someone. Then stories like this come out and people ask why nothing was done.

Seems like a no win. I'd rather error on the side of caution.

Particularly so if the child to whom it was pointed was also a male; that is the PC focus now, isn't it?

At this point I think it's fairly safe to say that zero tolerance=zero common sense.

Clearly we need a finger registry.

Should we let felons or the mentally ill own fingers?

Yup.

When I went to school, we all carried pocket knives and having a gun in your truck wasn't a call-in-SWAT-lock-down-the-county offense. It was "George, take your rifle home at lunch or at least lock it up under the seat and out of sight."

Strangely enough, no school shootings, despite plentiful firearms.

We were allowed to have pretend shootouts with our fingers when I was in school.

I'm heading into Mexico for a few days of R&R. I always have a Leatherman "mini" on me and was going to toss it in my checked luggage, but thought I'd check first.

According to the US Consulate...
Carrying even a small pocketknife may find you in prison for five years for possessing a deadly weapon.

Pretty strict laws down south...and it sure controls all the crime, doesn't it?

(Needless to say, the mini is staying home.)
