More than 100 homes in Penistone, South Yorkshire have been evacuated after police fo
Is it really that psychotic over there? BBC News - South Yorkshire street evacuated after ammunition find Forgive me for never having been, but this seems a bit over the top. They'd have to evacuate almost every state in the USA if " "extensive number" of shells and bullets were found" was any sort of criteria. And what is up with the zig zag road stripes? Drunken painter?

I don't think they mean shotgun shells. I think they mean the artillery kind. And they've been sitting around since WWII. I'd get a little concerned about UXO that old, particularly since the storage conditions over time aren't known.

Wonder what kind of stroke they have in Penistown? They'll need plenty to get a hand on this semenly intractable situation before they eject the shells.
