"The sun never sets on the British Empire" (South Atlantic remnants, slide show) odd
The far-flung British islands of the South Atlantic
Take a journey to some of the remotest parts of the former British Empire with photographer Jon Tonks. For his book - Empire - he travelled thousands of miles to four British Overseas Territories - Ascension Island, St Helena, the Falkland Islands and Tristan da Cunha. While much of the landscape and climate he experienced was very un-British, a lot of what he saw was strangely familiar. BBC News - The far-flung British islands of the South Atlantic |

Thanks. Very cool. Had a friend who was stationed at a US military base of some kind on Ascencion Island back in the 60's. He traveled there last year to get a look at the island again. Took quite a bit of planning to make the arrangements to get there by plane.
