Why so much negativity

I haven't been active on here for a while. Years. I have returned to a forum full of jackals.
We are (allegedly) like minded enthusiasts. If you have some vile filth you wish to spread about someone elses personal beliefs just keep them to yourselves. Slander and negativity will only benefit those who aspire to hold political office. I'm sure a way can be found to ratchet down the hate a few notches, yes?

Jive, I wish we could roll back the clock here and I could get a fresh start. I've tried to reset a few times, but there are a few here who are excellent at, and relish in, pushing my buttons. Once they do, and I succumb, they pile on like a pack of wolves.

My advice to you would be to remain your polite and thoughtful self, which you displayed by starting this thread and how you wrote your OP. If you ever express an opinion that differs with some of these people, they won't let you forget it.

Thanks for starting the classy thread.

Negativity is a symptom of people being honest. We should be thankful for it.

You can take your civility and put it where the sun don't shine.

kidding

I agree that we should avoid disrespectful comments, especially those of a personal nature. On the other hand, some of us could probably get a thicker skin.

I appreciate this post, Larry, as it is a perfect reflection of my feelings on this forum. No matter how often I turn the other cheek, some of the folks on this forum continue to have positions on issues that differ from mine.

Definitely, however my reason for posting this thread is as such; there is another thread where someone advocates the genocide of Muslims. I'm an atheist who believes in doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do, not because I participate in some fear based belief system that instructs me to do the right thing or be damned for eternity. I have no religious ties. (Not attacking the religious here, just expressing my views) I actually get along quite well with people of any religious views as I greatly respect their passion. As the Romans said, Credo quea impossible. I believe because it's impossible, that I can respect.

I was frightened by this persons post because Crayola level logic points out the problem. Presumably as the poster is a Christian he believes the holocaust was a tragic event as it involved the persecution and genocide of innocent civilians based largely on race, but also on political ties, sexual orientation, and diseases of the skin. Said poster then goes on to say that Muslims should be wiped out. How is this proposed genocide any different than the ones undertaken previously in history?

You can't let keyboard cowboys rattle your chain. This is likely some guy stuck behind a counter making breakfast burritos at a Taco Bell who hates his life and allows that hatred to be displaced from time-to-time. This week the hatee is practicing Muslims; next week it will be old men in Buick Lucernes who forget to shut off their turn signals...
Definitely, however my reason for posting this thread is as such; there is another thread where someone advocates the genocide of Muslims. Nope, you have a comprehension issue. I was referring to radical islamists who wish to spread their version of islam to the world, to everyone or tax them or kill them. I would call people like that the enemy to humanity. If you can't see that or couldn't read that, that's your problem

That is laughable. Grow some thicker skin, buddy

Presumably as the poster is a Christian There is NOTHING in this post that infers that I am a christian. I am actually a pagan, if that really matters. what I am is a human that sees an evil group of people trying to spread middle ages hatred upon the world instead of coexisting as most of us try to do.

[Said poster then goes on to say that Muslims should be wiped out. Again, how do you function in society if you cannot comprehend what others write? Speaking of the jihadists, radical islamists, whatever you wish to call them. They are, even if you can't figure it out, a threat to the existance of modern society, that is, unless you think that people who suppress women, immolaite the religious opposition, behead innocents or sew shut the vaginas of their women AFTER mutilating their clitoris, enlightened folks. How is this proposed genocide any different than the ones undertaken previously in history?
If you are speaking of me, you can't be further from the truth. I am a college educated, upper middle class person with a respectable career (not that being a food service worker is a less than noble trade). I harbor no random hatred, save only for those who would destroy our world. If you think radical islam is a good thing that should flourish and spread across the world, as is their goal, then you too have some socio-mental issues.
