Funny dynamite story. Long but worth it.

Thanks for that, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Having lived in that part of the world at one time I can fully appreciate the truth in that tale. It's great that those stories are being recorded for posterity.

It reminds me of another dynamite story, not quite as colorful, but amusing nonetheless.

My buddy Wayne comes from Ontario, and every fall he goes back home to make sure his mom is set for winter. She loves whitefish, and one of his jobs is making sure her freezer has plenty of fish for the winter.

So anyway, Wayne was down at the station getting gas in the outboard motor tank, when Jimmy, one of his high-school friends, pulls up in his truck. Jimmy is now a Conservation Officer, aka 'fish&fur cop', and he's very proud of his new pick-up with the flashing lights. They get to talking and reminiscing and Jimmy asks Wayne where he's going with the boat. Wayne tells him he's off to Possum lake the next day to get whitefish for his mom's freezer. Jimmy tells Wayne, "You're wasting your time there are no whitefish in Possum lake", and Wayne responds, "Well ya got to know where to look." So, Jimmy says tomorrow is his day off and could he come along. Wayne figures he's trying to catch him fishing without a license, but he says "OK, meet me at the dock in the morning."

Next morning Jimmy shows up with his fishing gear and they head off down the lake. After about an hour they pull into a small cove way the heck down at the end of the lake where hardly anybody goes. So, while Jimmy is getting his rod and lure set up, Wayne reaches into his tackle box, grabs a stick of dynamite, lights the fuse and chucks it overboard. "WHUMP" goes the dynamite and fish start floating to the surface around the boat. Wayne grabs the net and starts hauling them into the boat. Well, Jimmy is just sitting there all wide eyed and mouth agape, and finally composes himself enough to say, "Wayne, I don't know how you guys fish up in the Territories, but here in Ontario, that's strictly forbidden, and I'm going to have to charge you with fishing illegally." Wayne sits back down, looking Jimmy straight in the eye, reaches into the tackle box, grabs another stick, lights the fuse and hands it to Jimmy, who grabs it without thinking. At this point, Wayne, without blinking an eye says to Jimmy, "Well, Jimmy, are you going to write up that ticket, or start fishing, you've got about ten seconds to decide."

That story sounds a lot like one told around here with different names.

I related the story as Wayne told it to me. As I had never heard it before, I had no reason to doubt it, and it's the sort of thing he would do. I apologize if that offended you.

I am not offended.
I would put a smile and wink here but I know how you hate that.
