Such a sacrifice on your part, Tom. The local authorities would not take kindly to it if I did the same, be they the long arm of the law or my parents .

Plagiarized from John Cleese' eulogy for Graham Chapman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm2XPkqENaw

But by god, I hope somebody writes an obituary like that for me!

I love this guy! Judging by that twinkle in his eye, wouldn't surprise me if he wrote a lot of it, or borrowed it from Cleese, and if so, I'm OK with that.

*EDIT* Only a small, but good, bit of it was borrowed from Cleese, but that was a pleasant view nonetheless.

There will be no viewing since his wife refuses to honor his request to have him standing in the corner of the room with a glass of Jack Daniels in his hand so he would appear natural to visitors.

I love it!

A good obit makes you wish you'd known the person. This one does. I bet he wrote it himself. I noticed the Cleese-inspired opening as well. He put it to good use so can't fault him for it.

My thoughts exactly. He looks like type who would be perfectly comfortable with a Jack on the rocks talking shop at duPont gatherings or cutting up with his friends.

I think GatorBlue92 ought to run up to Newark Saturday and give us a report on who authored the Obit. Convey the regrets and well wishes from thousands of OD members while you're at it.
I'd consider dropping by the Deerfield to pay respects if I didn't have to work Sat. Just to satisfy my curiosity.

As someone who has written an obituary in the last two weeks, I appreciate the laugh this gave me. And I needed the laugh.

And this is giving me serious consideration to write my own.

I saw an article written on the obit in question and he did write it himself, with some inspiration.

I've got to get to work!
