Amazon Prime Subscription Increase Coming

Amazon Prime: Still a good deal at $99? | The Cheapskate - CNET News

If you buy a lot of stuff, the free two day (or shorter) shipping could pay for itself. The video streaming is good and getting better with original content.

Basically, if you were thinking of it, consider getting it before April 17.

I've had it for a long time. i have an Amazon rewards VISA set up as my default payment method on Amazon and the rewards always total more than enough to pay the annual Prime costs. I let the rewards pile up and Amazon sends me a message asking if I want to pay the annual fee out of my rewards.
They're charging tax now so the margin has narrowed, but for the prime videos and the savings on things we order all the time it's still a bargain.

We've been Amazon Prime members for several years now, and we love it.

The free two day shipping makes everything affordable, as well as the free streaming videos on the tv. It's like a Netfix subscription, but with different movies.

I'm with suginami and el chivito. Been a member for years and an extra 20 clams isn't going to change my mind.
Just being able to get a competitive price on many items, without having to go into public at a brick and mortar establishment is worth the price of admission.
Getting the stuff in 2 days for no added cost is icing.
The free prime videos is over the top.

We've pretty well worn out most of the video selection now, but occasionally we'll buy one and let Amazon store it for us in the cloud.

My very first purchase with Amazon prime (I had gotten a free membership because I belong to Amazon Mom....) was a bigger window unit air conditioner which we felt we had to have before the in-laws came for a summer visit.
I chose the $3.99 overnight option... figuring for sure that they would never overnight a 75lb AC unit for 4 bucks...
Next day it was on my doorstep, and I've never looked back.

I just got an email confirming that when my prime renews is July the rate is increasing from $79 to $99.
My rate increases in July 2014. So check your renewal dates!

I shop on amazon a lot so I feel like the discounted prices I get probably even out the membership fee. I will probably still come out ahead but not sure. Its probably still worth it
