Very nice. Would I be correct in assuming that the car was owned by a girl who's fathers name was Peter? Or that an individual of that name considered this car to be his daughter?

Actually neither: Typical of Icelandic surnames. They go on for generations.

--s"son" is more commonly seen than --s"dottir" in my experience.
