Made my college decision

I am going to Georgia Tech! It wasn't my top choice but I think it is a great school. UF was my top choice but my GPA was just below the mark they want for academic scholarships so it was going to cost too much to go there. I was also pushed away from LSU (my 3rd choice), Ohio State and Auburn because the IRS was having issues with my tax documents, on their end not mine.
Though I was sorta pushed into this decision, I am excited to go to GA Tech because their academics are the strongest of the schools I applied to, though in some areas like meal plans and the music department they lagged far behind the other schools I was looking at.

Great choice! In the eighties we hired a young engineer fresh out of Georgia Tech who had graduated at the top of his class. He was nothing short of amazing.

Set your shoulder for the heavy load and give it all you've got. The payoff will be well worth the effort. Very best of luck!

Georgia Tech is a great school. Congrats!

Meal plan? Really?

Good choice, no matter how you came to it.

Gotta live on campus so its required, most say the food is barely edible. I needed to lose weight anyway so it isn't all bad.

College dorm occupants and GI's always complain about the food. I bet it won't be nearly as bad as you think.

Congratulations!

I thought the dorm food was pretty good. I gained about 20# my freshman year. In retrospect the food was starchy and fat laden probably.;)

Lol, its a better criteria than all those people who decide to apply and go to the same college their high school boyfriend\girlfriend applied, then break up september of freshman year. :D

Congratulations!
Ive got two good friends in grad school there right now, great school. If you think you are going to Atlanta and will lose weight, guess again. That city has about 10k great places to eat. The school doesnt need good food, because the city solves that problem. Yum yum. Bad traffic and good food are how hotlanta are etched in my mind

EDIT- except you already live there i see, so you know all about it. :D
Your city sure has some good places to eat. And it will be fairly convenient to go to school within reasonable distance from home, think of all the laundry you will get done at home instead of using a coin op

A lady in our office went there. Great school, she loved it, got a lot of benefit from it.

If I had chosen LSU, its more like the freshmen 50 over there, I think the hot sauce isn't needed there

I was more puzzled by the music dept. concerns?

OP, are you looking to work in the music/sound field?

They actually have a really strong music technology graduate program but no undergrad music programs except minors. I'm not really looking to be a full time musician or go into music technology (though it sounds interesting) by any means, just music is my second passion having played instruments (tuba and more recently bass trombone) throughout middle and high school in our concert, symphonic and marching bands as well as playing in and leading my own 15-piece brass choir. I like arranging music and I believe they offer music theory and composition classes but the music school really isn't too great and the ensembles aren't really all that serious. The music school is in about the most run down building on campus.

I am wanting to major in mechanical or aerospace engineering with maybe a minor in music though most likely I will major in mechanical and minor in aerospace.
